Bowl Fest 2018 : A CCS Fundraiser

So what happens at Bowl Fest? What kind of "bowl" are we talking about here? The kind that you pay $10 for and fill with as much chili, stew, and gumbo as you want, of course! What kind of bowl were you thinking of? Good thing we didn't go with the original name: Pot Fest.

The Crescent City Shapers hosted the inaugural Bowl Fest Fundraiser, a Fall fest of sorts aimed at raising money to get UNO students to the next APA National Planning Conference. The menu included Traditional Chili, Seafood Gumbo (complete with crab, oysters, and shrimp), and Cajun Chicken and Rice Stew, along with vegetarian options such as Vegan Chili and African Peanut Soup. Tea Cakes and Pecan and Sweet Potato Pie were available for desert to complement steaming hot cups of apple cider. The drinks were SYOC style, of course: Spike Your Own Cider.

As usual at CCS events, attendees were a mixture of first year and second year students and alumni. A couple of faculty members even graced our presence.

After the pots were depleted and their contents devoured, several students and faculty loaded up into a car and drove down to Dulac, Louisiana in Terrebonne Parish to attend a community banquet. UNO-PLUS students were extended an invitation by Principal Chief of the United Houma Nation, August Creppel. CCS and UNO PLUS students and faculty enjoyed great food, good company, and gratifying music.
